Introduction

History

  • 1994

    • - Graduate School of Design Opens as Master's Course for 5 Semesters

      - Seven majors (architectural design, interior design, product design, automobile design, ceramic crafts, jewelry design, and costume design) were newly established with a total of 30 people

      - Professor Jeong Jae-chul of the Department of Architecture was appointed as the first president

      - The College of Sculpture relocated to the Sculpture Hall


  • 1995

    • - Adjustment of the student quota by 40 students (70 students in total)


  • 1996

    • - Adjustment of 20 students (total capacity of 90 students)

      - Professor Kim Chul-soo of the Department of Industrial Design was appointed as the second president


  • 1997

    • - Adjustment of 25 students (admission capacity of 61 students)

  • 1998

    • - Opening of the Department of Interior Design

      - Professor Kim Seung-hee of the Department of Crafts and Art as the 3rd Director

      - Renamed Jewelry Design Major to Jewelry Design Major

      - Establishment of Jewelry Design Center Affiliated with Graduate School of Design


  • 1999

    • - Established Beauty Arts Academy Affiliated with Graduate School of Design

      - Professor Kim In-chul of the Department of Visual Design was appointed as the 4th president

      - Establishment of Wooden Architectural Design Center Affiliated to Graduate School of Design

      - Installation of a special course for glass molding design


  • 2000

    • - Adjustment of student quota by 14 students

      - One additional major (glass molding design) was added to the (admission capacity of 75 students)

      - Professor Jeon Yong-il of the Department of Crafts and Art was appointed as the 5th Director


  • 2001

    • - Adjustment of student quota by 20 students

      - Three majors (visual design, photography, and design theory) were newly established (admission capacity of 95 students)

      - Reorganization into a lifelong education center affiliated with the Academy of Beauty Arts and Wooden Architectural Design Center

  • 2002

    • - Professor Yoo Young-woo of the Department of Visual Design was appointed as the 6th Director

      - Change the name of the photography major to the photography and video major

  • 2003

    • - Four additional majors (environmental facility design, green design, pattern/modelist design, and furniture design) were added to the adjustment of the number of students by 20 (115 admission)

      - The automobile design major was renamed to transportation and leisure design major, and the ceramic craft major was renamed to ceramic design major

      - Reorganizing Jewelry Design Center into a Lifelong Education Center Affiliated Institution

  • 2004

    • - Zero One Design Center was newly established in Dongsung-dong

      - Additional animation majors and renaming architectural design majors to digital architecture majors

      - Professor Yoo Young-woo of the Department of Visual Design was reappointed as the 7th Director

  • 2006

    • - Additional exhibition design majors and change the name of environmental facility design majors to environmental design majors

      - Abolish Digital Architecture Major and Design Theory Major

      - Professor Lee Jae-jung of the Department of Costume Design was appointed as the 8th Director

    • - Adjustment of 20 students (135 admissions)

  • 2008

    • - Professor Noh Kyoung-jo of the Department of Ceramic Crafts was appointed as the 9th Director

  • 2010

    • - Professor Byun Choo-suk of the Department of Visual Design was appointed as the 10th president

      - New major in illustration and new major in fashion merchandising

  • 2012

    • - Professor Byun Choo-suk of the Department of Visual Design was reappointed as the 11th Director

  • 2013

    • - Renamed furniture design major to furniture/space coordination major

  • 2014

    • - Professor Lee Sang-yong of the Department of Ceramic Crafts was appointed as the 12th Director

    • - Adjustment of 20 student quota cuts (85 admissions)

      - Abolish furniture and space coordination majors, glass-shaped design, costume design, pattern and modalism majors

      - Change the name of the fashion merchandising major to the fashion major

  • 2016

    • - Professor Ha Joon-soo of the Department of Video Design was appointed as the 13th Director

      - Adjustment of four student quota cuts (81 admissions)

    • - Living Architecture Glass to Add Transportation Design Major

    • - Professor Kang Yeon-mi of the Department of Jewelry Design was appointed as the 14th president

      - Entrance quota (70 students)

    • - Professor Lee Joon-hee of the Department of Illustration was appointed as the 15th Director

      - Entrance quota (70 students)

    • - New Art Therapy Major and Inclusive Design Major Abolition

      - Change the name of Living Architecture Design major to Glass Formation major
